A responsible, outgoing individual is wanted for a great opportunity to accompany a charismatic young man with autism to the STEP Up Program at Paxton. This is an ideal position for a college student or recent graduate who wants to gain some valuable work experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping the individual achieve independence in job skills,community skills, and daily living skills.
  • Helping him follow a schedule, stay on task, engage with peers, and maintain safety while at work or in the community. 

The applicant will be trained in methods of teaching independence to adults with disabilities. Additional training will be provided by a speech pathologist and an occupational therapist to help with motor planning and communication using a keyboard.

Hours are MWF from approx. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Applicants must be

  2. Able to work in the US
  3. Pass a background investigation
  4. Have a good driving record and
  5. Non-smoking

After school care needed for our 3 school-aged children (must be comfortable with special needs children). Two boys, ages 11 and 9, girl, age 7. Middle child has low to moderate level of Autism. He is a vocal child, but has limited communication skills and needs close supervision.  May need to dispense liquid medicine before dinner, but very easy. On some days there may be additional adults in home, i.e. ABA therapist and sometimes mom or a grandparent.  Hours would be M-F from 3:30-6:30 (we are flexible on the number of days per week, but hope to get at least 3 days a week).  Duties include picking up our child with Autism from a van that comes to our house at 3:30, picking up the other kids from bus stop, helping with snack, getting started on homework, and some dinner prep.  Opportunity for weekend hours too!  Pay $15-18 per hour, depending on level of experience.

  • Enjoy working with 3 very different children, be patient, have a strong personality, and energetic.

Hours of need are flexible at this point.  Before school (7:15-8:45)///After school (3:45-5:00 or even longer).  Weekend help on Saturday mornings and early afternoons.  Sunday afternoon help or evening help would be appreciated.  I am willing to any help on any days.
