Job Title: Director of Development


The Arc of Loudoun on the Paxton Campus is seeking a dynamic Director of Development to lead efforts to research, identify, cultivate, and steward relationships leading to investment in the organization. The Director of Development will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, other members of the leadership team, the Board of Directors and program staff to raise The Arc of Loudoun’s visibility in the community and to expand our fundraising capacity. The successful candidate is a seasoned Development professional with strong fundraising skills and demonstrated experience in building long-term and strategic relationships. The Director will lead the organization in achieving fundraising goals that reflect and support an aggressive strategic growth initiative, and will report directly to the Executive Director.

The ideal Director of Development candidate has a proven record of creating and directing powerful fundraising and communication strategies that increase support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources in the local community. 

Desired Qualifications

  • A demonstrated track record of securing major gifts and deferred gifts from donors;
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills with the ability to develop donor briefings and communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, professional and positive manner;
  • Utilizes a strategic approach to fundraising and possesses a strong knowledge of fundraising best practices and of current, and emerging technology fundraising applications and communications;
  • Proven ability to think critically, achieve results, manage multiple tasks, adhere to deadlines and work well under pressure both independently and as part of a team;
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to think beyond the traditional; strong ethical/moral compass
  • Leverages internet and social media for fundraising and outreach techniques;
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate;
  • Solution oriented approach to challenges and the ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects and deadlines;

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred; 5+ years of experience in fundraising; education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Speech and Language Pathologist – The Aurora School

The Aurora School is currently seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist. (Small caseload AND Minimal paperwork!!!) Great team atmosphere! A Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) at The Aurora School is responsible for the day-to-day SLP programming, management of speech and language IEP goals, SLP service delivery and the integration of SLP goals within each student’s educational and behavioral program. Qualified candidates are licensed to practice in the state of Virginia. The SLP reports directly to and is evaluated by the Administrative Director of The Aurora School.

  • Experience working with students who have a variety of functioning levels and disabilities.

Request for Proposals for the Paxton Advantage Behavior Clinic for The Arc of Loudoun on the Paxton Campus in Leesburg, Virginia

Scope: The renovation of the Stone Barn on the Paxton Campus in Leesburg to house the Paxton Advantage Behavior Clinic

Project Funding: This project is funded in part by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds administered by the Loudoun County Department of Family Services. Contractor must comply with federal requirements, including but not limited to the Davis-Bacon Act. The Davis-Bacon wage determination was run on 2-24-17 at www.wdol.gov. The work to be performed under this contract is subject to the requirements of section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, as amended, 12 U.S.C. 1701u (section 3). Federal labor standards provisions required for this construction work are available online at HUDClips: https://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/program_offices/labor_standards_enforcement.  The contractor is required to be registered and in good standing with SAM.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) – The Aurora School

The Aurora School is accepting applications for BCBA and BCaBA or BCBA-D candidates seeking supervision. BCBAs work with our students with autism and developmental delays, conduct evaluations and consult on student program goals and teaching procedures. Strong leadership and management skills are necessary for supervising and training ABA therapists and running multiple student programs. Experience in Verbal Behavior is desired, and experience in Direct Instruction is a plus.

Licensed VA Special Education Teacher (ABA Therapist/ Team Leader) – The Aurora School

The Aurora School is currently hiring a licensed VA Special Ed teacher (K-12) for our private day school for students with special needs located in Leesburg, Virginia. The children are ages 5-22 years old. All of our students receive services in a 1:1 to a 1:3 staff to student ratio.

The qualified teacher must be able to implement ABA curriculum that is aligned with the clinical team decisions and licensing regulations. The Special Education teacher must be able to implement and oversee student programming as it is specified in each student’s individual education plan.

Qualified candidates: must have a VA Special Education license (K-12); Experience with ABA is preferred; BCBA or willingness to begin work towards BCBA certification preferred.

ABA Therapist – The Aurora School

The Aurora School is accepting applications for Applied Behavior Analysis therapists. ABA therapists work 1:1 with our students with disabilities and developmental delays under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Full- and part-time hours are available. College preferred or experience in working with individuals with disabilities. The ideal ABA therapist has some training in Verbal Behavior, data collection, and teaching procedures, is a team player, and is proactive and motivated to work with children with disabilities.
