Aurora School

The Aurora School, founded by parents in cooperation with The Arc of Loudoun, is a caring educational community with diversity at its core. We challenge our students to achieve personal excellence in academics, communication, thinking skills, emotional intelligence, and life planning so that they may become self-guided members of society.

Using the latest techniques, curricula, and technology, students and their families become active partners in their individualized education program. We provide a progressive learning environment that serves individuals with intellectual disabilities, ages 5 to 22.

We offer a wide variety of programs. Our curriculums and activities are made to meet the individual student’s needs. Among the skills we teach our students are:

  • Verbal behavior
  • Academic literacy
  • Reading
  • Social skills
  • Self-management
  • Problem-solving skills

Qualified BCBAs, licensed teachers, SLPs and OTs are part of every student’s team.  Aurora is also a practicum and internship site for several notable Behavior Analysts and Special Education Programs. With so much information being taught and learned at Aurora, our staff often participates in and presents research at local, national, and international conferences specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis, Autism and Behavior Management. We strive towards creating a community and helping those in need across the nation and the globe.
