SIBSHOPSsibshops logo
Sibshops acknowledge that being the brother or sister of a person with special needs is for some a good thing, others a not-so-good thing, and for many, somewhere in-between. They reflect a belief that brothers and sisters have much to offer one another — if they are given a chance. Sibshops are a spirited mix of new games (designed to be unique, off-beat, and appealing to a wide ability range), new friends, and discussion activities.

$10/participant per session

For children ages 7-12 years old who have a sibling with a special need.  This is not a therapy group but a fun and safe space for children with siblings with special needs to meet other children in the same situation, who can share their experiences and feelings, discuss their joys and challenges.  FUN, FOOD and FRIENDS!

Next Chapter Book Club

Finding ways to learn and participate in the community can be challenging for adults with intellectual disabilities.  The Next Chapter Book Clubs offer a great opportunity to do both, and have fun.  Coming this Fall to the Paxton Campus, this program promises to allow adults to read books, engage in meaningful conversations and interact with their peers and the community.  In partnership with the Loudoun County Public Library and generously funded by 100 Women Strong.

Space is limited and participants must be 18 or over.

Please contact Tammy Goddard, Director of ALLY Advocacy Center, with any questions at: tgoddard@paxtoncampus.org or 703.777.1939 ext 207.

Transition Series

For families with a child at the end of their academic career who have an IEP and disabilities that require planning.  Our transition series provides families with up-to-date, useful and valuable information on everything from housing and transportation options to Medicaid, Social Security, employment options and Mircro-boards, as well as Guardianships and special needs trusts.  We secure presenters with real, working knowledge and expertise on the topics and allow for questions and answers.  Families complete the multi-week program with a plan in place for life beyond school.

Representative Payee Program

ALLY provides representative payee services to adults with disabilities, free of charge. A representative payee is an individual or organization appointed by The Social Security Administration to receive Social Security and/or SSI benefits for someone who cannot manage or direct someone else to manage his or her money.  We help to ensure that benefit payments are used for basic needs first, providing the beneficiary with a more stable living environment. Once a beneficiary’s daily needs are met, any funds leftover must be saved for that specific beneficiary’s future use.

At ALLY, we strive to motivate beneficiaries to work toward more independent living. If you, or someone you know, is in need of representative payee services, please contact Tammy Goddard, Director of ALLY Advocacy Center at: tgoddard@paxtoncampus.org or 703.777.1939 ext 207.
